Nottinghamshire drivers are being advised to plan ahead and ensure they have bottles of water with them as temperatures soar on our county’s roads.

With temperatures expected to reach record-breaking levels tomorrow (Thursday 25 July 2019) it’s important to remember the dangers that the hot weather can present.

Emergency Planning Officer Nick Waltz, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "If people are driving, we are asking them to be prepared and to have some bottles of water with them so they can stay hydrated should they get caught up in long delays in the hot weather."

The very young and the elderly are those who are particularly at risk in the hot weather.

Overheating can make symptoms worse for people who already have problems with their heart or breathing, so if you do have these problems, make sure that you find cooler areas to stay in.

Heatstroke can make people very ill and can sometimes be fatal.
